Disability Inclusion
Disability rights are enshrined in Peruvian law. We are committed to supporting disabled people in our rural communities to understand and access their rights to all areas of their society. We work to ensure that their voices are heard and that they are seen, heard and valued in their communities.
Community Engagement
We actively engage with local townships, schools and churches to ensure that disabled people are involved in community programmes and events. We invite local organisations and individuals to visit and use the facilities of our centre, encouraging an integrated community.
Life-skills Training
Our education facility aims to empower individuals by developing their everyday skills. We cover a wide range of topics, including personal care, cookery and household tasks, literacy, numeracy and handicrafts. Friendship and fun are at the heart of our activities.
Physiotherapy
Our clinics offer free treatment to disabled people, as well as being open to the whole community. Our aim is to maximise the full potential of each person. Where necessary, we provide mobility aids and visit people in their own homes.
Healthcare Access
We are committed to ensuring that disabled people know their rights of access to all healthcare services, and the supports that are offered by the State. We offer additional support they sometimes need, whether it’s fares to the city or help with some of the tests and medications they need.
Advocacy & Support
We work with individuals to better understand and promote their individual aspirations and skill sets. At a civic and family level, we seek to promote opportunities for them to practise and display their skills. Our aim is to see their contributions respected and valued.
